We have some very interesting and cosmopolitan opposition in Pool A of the new World 7s at Twickers this weekend...
The group includes DHL Western Province, VVA Moscow Region and New York with the South Africans likely to provide the hardest opposition.
Therer are no injury worries but scrum half Dan Robson comes back in. He will join top try scorer Steph Reynolds, Welsh 7s World Cup winner Rhodri McAtee, Andrew Bulumakau and Apo Satala and fellow Islander Akapusi Qera.
Provisional squad: Martyn Thomas, Apo Satala, Dan Robson, Akapusi Qera, Andrew Bulumakau, Matt Cox, Nevaro Codlin, Gareth Evans, Rhodri McAtee, Billy Burns, Steph Reynolds, Drew Cheshire.
The competition is a pre-cursor to the Rio Olympics where 7s will make its debut.
It brings together some of the biggest names in club and provincial rugby from the Northern and Southern Hemispheres, together with some of the emerging names in the 7s game.
The 12 teams competing in the inaugural tournament over August 17 and 18, include Harlequins and Northampton Saints as well as Glaws as winners from this year's J.P. Morgan Premiership Rugby 7s.
They will be joined by the likes of the Western Province and Blue Bulls from South Africa, Auckland from New Zealand, the ACT Brumbies from Australia, and Buenos Aires of Argentina.
They will also be competing against teams from America, New York and San Francisco and VVA Moscow Region and Kuban Krasnador from Russia, as the established and emerging rugby worlds meet.
