Winning Try

The season is back on track with a much improved performance from the pack and a match winning finish from Jonny May ...

Gloucesters James Simpson-Daniel makes a break during the Heineken Cup match against Perpignan at Ki

Perpignan had a massive pack but we learnt the lessons of last week and worked our socks off to provide the platform for the talent out wide.

It didn't start too well with the visitors taking a first minute lead through James Hook and there were more than a few nervous glances in The Shed.

We were unfortunate not to score in the first half including with this effort [below] from Jimmy Cowan which was judged to have been held up.

Gloucesters Jimmy Cowan is held up short of a try during the Heineken Cup match at Kingsholm Stadium

But Cowan wasn't to be denied after the break. Twelvetrees and Hook kept the scoreboard ticking with five pens to Billy and four to the Welsh wizard who also slotted a 40 metre drop goal.

But the it was the May show which secured the win.., He was thwarted by a forwsard pass but a couple of minutes later he blasted clear for the well desrved match winner to put us in front with Twelvetrees cementing the 27-22 scoreline with a last minute penalty.

Wish the photographer had taken that photo of Cowan's try a split second later as it looked to me and everybody else that he'd scored.

If that bloke hadn't got his hand all over his face he would have been able to see the line and ground the ball.

To be honest I cant see how he didn't go on to get the ball down as there's no way a hand would get under it from that photo.

Agreed. From that position and with all that weight on him he must he must have grounded the ball but I suppose it might have been in front of the line.
Good job we went on to win eh?
