Always Look On The Bright Side

Murphy Try
By Cheery Cherry
March 9 2015

The first reaction after this pulsating  draw against the league leaders which saw 66 points being scoredwas one of dejection. But now the dust has settled you have to say that was one heck of a game, and one which gives all Cherry and Whites massive hope for what is being developed at Kingsholm ..

Gloucester Rugbys Henry Purdy runs in to score a try that ends up not being given during the Aviva P

Our first half was breathtaking as we raced into 23-9 half time lead after Charlie Sharples and Richard Hibbard the try scorers and Laidlaw immaculate with the boot. Henry Purdy also went over (above) but that one was disallowed.

Saints came back, as we feared they would, with James Wilson going over while  Dan Murphy got our third.

As the game reached its final dying moments we were stilll in  the lead, but  Samu Manoa finished off a driving maul and Myler broke our hearts with the conversion.

At the time it was scant consolation as this was the third highest scoring draw in Premiership history, and that rich entertainment had been served up by both sides.

It also means we are now very unlikely to finish anywhere in the league where it would do us any good. Still there's now great hope for next season.

What do we want to be known as "the Entertainers" or The Winners?"

I know where my vote would go even if The Saints game was a cracker. we need to learn how to close these games out.

I found this article interesting on the game - this chap is getting a lot of praise for his rugby writing on other areas of rugbynetwork. I didn't think this was his best article - the one on London Welsh was excellent here - but these are interesting times for Gloucester for sure...

Nearly but not quite
