It's a strange state of affairs when you win a hard fought game and then everyone complains that it feels like a defeat because a bonus point wasn't achieved. Seems a bit of an arrogant approach ...
David Humphreys certainly says it was an opportunity lost as we cantered into a 23-0 lead against Zebre . The Italians made a better fist of it in the second half earning a penalty try and going home defeated 23-10.
The worry, of course, is that bonus points might made a difference when the Pool reaches its conclusion. But as Worcester didn't get a bonus point against La Rochelle it doesn't really matter too much.
The best thing about the game was the debut of All Black lock Jeremy Thrush who was immaculate in the line out and the ball carrier we have been missing.
Our fist half scores came from Henry Purdy, Ross Moriarty and Steve McColl and we did look good for more. But you have to give credit to the Italians for sticking at it.
This Thursday we are scheduled to travel to La Rochelle where thoughts will be very much centred on the events of last weekend. First, of course, is Tuesday's game against the Barbarians.
