Where's The Passion

A local derby. Almost 20,000 in a noisy crowd. It was all set up for a pulsating encounter full or passion and drama - only Brizz delivered any of that.

The hosts deservedly beat the non Cherry and Whites 34-16 mainly by getting their act  together after a tryless first half.

They led 15-9 break, and it was almost inevitable that the first try went to a former Gloucs stalwart.  Henry Purdy's try was followed by two more for Luke Morahan and Mat Protheroe.

We huffed and puffed but never looked likely to get ourselves back in the game as Bristol's pack grew more dominant as the game progressed. And we kept giving away penalties.

Freddie Clarke did cross in the closing minutes, but it was no consolation for the hordes of Gloucs supporters who had made the short journey.

We are now down to fourth and have three weeks to find that vital spark.

We will need it when  Chiefs come calling and they won't be bringing any flowers on Valentine's night. Kick off 7.45 - live on BT sport.-
