Whitchurch nestles in The Marches, along the historic boundary between lawless Wales and the lush English counties of Mercia . It is a verdant rural area with a long tradition of robust rugby. Like Kenilworth they pride themselves on producing sides made up largely of home grown boys and in recent years we have enjoyed many close and hard fought games . In fairness they were also in large part the most affable and generous of hosts . An excellent lunch was enjoyed by this correspondent but sadly controversy followed . More of this later, writes Peter Jones.
Kenilworth Ladies claim victory on very first outing.

Kenilworth Ladies travelled to Five Ways Old Edwardians for their very first game and came away with a 27-22 win. Following the disappointment of last week’s opposition pulling out at the last minute, the ladies were full of excitement and enthusiasm leading up to Sunday’s game.

Kenilworth Ladies Rugby set for rapid growth.

Following a successful inaugural week, the ladies at Kenilworth Ladies Rugby Football Club have experienced record numbers of women and girls expressing interest in being a part of the club. This was evident by the turnout at this week’s training session where 22 people were in attendance. Of the 22, 6 of these had never played rugby before and 4 players were returning to the game after a long absence.

Kenilworth Rugby Club is a well established club, but the one thing it has been missing has been an established women’s team; this summer, all this is going to change. With England Rugby currently working on increasing numbers of participants within the women’s game, the timing couldn’t be better.
Kenilworth RFC – pre-season training.

Kenilworth Rugby can confirm that pre-season training for all senior players will start on Thurs 18 June @ 7pm. This will be the first session under new 1st XV coach Wayne Morgan and signals the start of an exciting new era for the club. All players (including new recruits) are encouraged to attend as Wayne looks to build a squad to tackle what will be a challenging league (Mids 1 west) in 2015/16.
