Despite enormous amounts of possession Kenilworth could just not score. The result does not really represent the dominance Kenilworth had for large parts of the game, which was surprising with 4 Senior Players missing at a Party! At the end of the day its the points that matter.
Chipping Norton 21 Kenilworth Nil
Kenilworth started brightly, nicking the kick off ball from CN. A number of attacks ensued that took play up to the CN 22. Chipping Norton were ferocious at the breakdown and disrupted Kenilworth ball quite a bit, but from all set piece the Kens were dominant.
After 10 mins Kenilworth were awarded a penalty in front of the posts, but spurned the 3 points, in favour of the kick for touch in the corner. This looked like a banker of a try, as our rolling maul had been unstoppable. However, a ball thrown not straight put an end to that.
Play continued in the same vane for the next 13 minutes with one attack after another repulsed. Then disaster, a turnover ball quickly recycled by CN to the wing resulted in a break away try for CN.
Chipping Norton came out a better team in the 2nd half. Although, Kens still had good possession the backs were harried by a rush defence for which they had no answer. Another turnover and another breakaway try after 5 mins. Made the score 14 Nil.
CN were now in the ascendancy and |Kenilworth started to wilt. An interception try in the last 10 minutes finished a game, that in the first half we thought we were going to win. Final Score 21 nil.
